Tijd niet gezin! (Long time no see!)After the past few weeks, we're going to rename this country "Hectic Holland."Firstly, the Netherlands has been classified as red on the EU’s map for travel advice, the (short-lived) days of the free testing scheme for travellers are over, and (to top it off) hundreds have had their vacations cancelled by their travel agency — staycation anyone? 😅Secondly, we’re also sad to announce that the Dutch crime journalist Peter R. de Vries passed away this afternoon. He fought for more than a week in hospital after the attempt on his life last Tuesday. However, a lot of things made their return to the Netherlands this week. While we’re not so thrilled about some of them, like restrictions and our weekly coronavirus update, others, such as sunny weekends and night trains are things we can get behind! Meanwhile, Prime Minister Mark Rutte has apologised for the government’s “bad performance” in handling the coronavirus situation and says it’s not too late to turn the ship around. 🤞To that end, walk-in vaccinations might soon be a thing! Other things that make the future look brighter are a new Dutch invented car that drives on *drumroll please* solar power! 🎉 Not to mention that Dutch women are taking up the fight for free birth control. 💪Happy Thursday DutchReviewers,Christine @DutchReview
